West Point Campus Tour

Transportation, Guided tour, and lunch: $130 per person

This 2-hour tour requires moderate walking with visitors spending time off the bus at the various stops, most of which is outdoors. Some pathways may be unpaved and the ground uneven. Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear. While a rare occasion, this tour can be re-directed due to an unforseen funeral or ceremony.

NOTE: US Millitary Security requires everyone 17 years old and above bring government-issued photo ID (such as a Real ID, US driver`s license or passport) for admittance to the Academy grounds.

On this tour, the step-on guide boards the motorcoach for a combined bus and walking tour. You`ll hear the story of West Point, its role in the American Revolution, its famous history, along with stories about graduates who shaped our nation. Learn of the Long Gray Line, the cadet experience, and West Point`s continuing role in training the leaders of tomorrow. The tour makes stops at the Cadet Chapel, the Plain (the Cadet academic area), and Trophy Point (with a million dollar view overlooking the Hudson River).

You'll also explore the West Point Cemetery and the Old Cadet Chapel, built in 1837. Learn about the lives and contributions of some of the US Military`s and West Point`s most notable figures laid to rest on this hallowed ground: George Custer, Ed White II, George Goethals, Norman Schwarzkopf, Sylvanus Thayer, and many more. If there`s enough time, visit the galleries on your own at the West Point Museum or the Visitors Center.

9/11 Memorial and Museum Tour

Transportation and 90 minute guided tour: $100 per person

The 9/11 Memorial is located at the site of the former World Trade Center complex and occupies approximately half of the 16-acre site. The focal points of the Memorial are the twin reflecting pools, each nearly an acre in size, that sit in the footprints of the former North and South Towers. The pools contain the largest manmade waterfalls in North America, each descending 30 feet into a square basin. From there, the water in each pool drops another 20 feet and disappears into a smaller, central void.

According to the architect, Michael Arad, the pools represent “absence made visible.” Although water flows into the voids, they can never be filled. The sound of the cascading water makes the pools a place of tranquility and contemplation separate from the bustling noises of the city.

The nearly 3,000 names of the men, women, and children killed in the attacks of September 11, 2001 and February 26, 1993 are inscribed on bronze parapets surrounding the twin memorial pools.

Historical Exhibition: September 11, 2001

This historical exhibition presents the story of 9/11 using artifacts, images, first-person testimony, and archival audio and video recordings. The exhibition is made up of three parts: the Events of the Day, as they unfolded; Before 9/11, which provides the historical context leading up to the attacks; and After 9/11, which addresses the immediate aftermath and ongoing repercussions of the terrorist attacks.

9/11 Memorial Glade

The southwestern quadrant of the Memorial plaza is dedicated in honor of all who are sick or have died from exposure to toxins in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks. This population includes first responders and recovery workers at all three sites, relief workers and volunteers, World Trade Center survivors, and lower Manhattan residents, students, and workers, including those who cleaned buildings in the vicinity of Ground Zero.
